Madonna and Child with Souls in Purgatory

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Executed with a deft, light touch, the painting retains in the essential details these feathery strokes. Examination in natural light shows retouching that has discoloured. There is also an old varnish that carries some dirt. This would benefit from cleaning. There is a minor paint loss to the upper centre, above the Madonna's head. The paint layers remain stable.
Examination under UV light confirms these observations.
The copper plate is of a reasonable thickness, it has not suffered any bowing and remains stable.
