The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been recently relined and retains a good tension on its stretcher. There is evidence of strengthening along all of the edges of the composition associated to historic tenting. The paint surface is a little flat as a result of the relining treatment and a little worn in passages, most notably in the browns of the landscape.
Examination under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned strengthening and reveals scattered retouching, chiefly in the lower half of the composition. It further reveals an old repaired damage to the foliage to the left of the waterfalls, centre right.
