The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting is executed on an unlined canvas that is tacked to its original strainer with four small patches on the reverse. The canvas bulges slightly in the lower right quadrant. The varnish is cloudy and yellowed and the paint stable on the support. A pinhead sized hole in the canvas is visible in the sky at upper center. Under ultraviolet light, a number of small passages of strengthening fluoresce, including three to address vertical tears of between 1 inch and 2 inches in length in the brick wall and trees, and water at lower right, a small puncture in the upper right quadrant, and a few scattered areas in the sky, water, trees and building at left. There is inpainting to a repaired tear of approximately 3 in. in the lower right quadrant. The painting can be displayed as is but would likely benefit from a cleaning.
