The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been relined and retains a good tension on its stretcher. The paint surface is stable and the picture presents reasonably well overall.
Examination under ultra light reveals a number of repaired irregular-shaped tears with associated retouching, the most conspicuous of which runs from the central section of sky (starting from the area above the column with a winged lion), down through the facade of S. Giorgio Maggiore, and into the Piazzetta with the conversing figures. There are further scattered spots of retouching, as well as some strengthening along the right edge.
