Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The panel is composed of a single board with horizontal wood grain and beveling along all four sides of the reverse. The varnish is clear and the paint stable on the support. A fine craquelure is visible in some of the darkest passages. Ultraviolet light reveals retouching to the sky, principally fine lines to close the horizontal wood grain. A handful of small, scattered dots of retouching also fluoresce in the figures and landscape. The painting appears to have undergone a recent conservation treatment and should be displayed in its current state.
