The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been relined and retains a good tension on its stretcher. The varnish has discoloured and the paint surface is a little dirty. The picture is generally in good condition and would benefit from cleaning and revarnishing.
Examination under ultra violet light reveals a few very minor spots of retouching in the area of shadow between the ox's forelegs and elsewhere in the foreground. Otherwise the picture appears to be in very good original condition.
