The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The panel is approximately 1⁄4 inch thick and exhibits beveling on all four sides. It is not reinforced on the reverse, but is in plane. The paint is stable on the support. The are small losses to the panel at the lower corners as well as along the lower edge. Under natural light, the varnish is dirty and yellowed. Scuffing from frame contact is visible at the left, right and lower edges due to frame contact. A pinhead sized loss is visible at upper right. The painting does not appear to have been cleaned in many years and though dirty, the paint surface seems well-preserved altough somewhat thin in the sky. Ultraviolet light does not appear to reveal retouching. The painting may be displayed as is, but cleaning by an old master paintings conservator would likely improve its appearance.
