The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been relined and retains a good tension on its stretcher. The paint surface is a little dirty and the varnish has somewhat discoloured. Some rubbing is visible along the edges of the canvas, no doubt associated to historic frame abrasion. Isolated spots of discoloured retouching are visible to the naked eye, the most conspicuous being to an old repaired damage in the sky, upper centre.
Examination under ultraviolet light is largely obscured by the old vanish but does reveal a few areas of retouching in the sky and to the architecture, lower left.
