The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The panel is uncradled and exhibits beveling along its circumference. The varnish is generally clear, if somewhat yellowed, and the paint stable on the support. A very fine craquelure is visible upon close inspection in the darkest passages. Under ultraviolet light, the varnish fluoresces green, somewhat impeding inspection of the work. However, two campaigns of restoration can be seen, the first of which appears to address a horizontal scratch extending partially through the figures at left. A more recent campaign addressed several small losses in the drapery of the figure in blue at right. The painting appears to be in an overall good state of preservation and can be displayed in its current state.
