The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In excellent stable condition overall considering the age and fragility of the material. On the whole it appears to retain most of the original 16th century elements. The eagle with multiple repairs to the backs of the wings which include large iron bands. Some scattered repaired cracks to left and right wing. Both the tips of the left and right wing with one missing feather. With multiple traces of polychrome decoration overall, now with the expected rubbing, flaking and scattered chipped losses. The head emerging from the ball that the eagle is standing on is replaced. The cuts at the tops of the legs of the eagle are quote abrupt where the feathers end indicating the eagles feet and the ball might be later elements. With some larger chipped and broken losses to the carving overall, particularly, there are many areas of repaired losses to the carving to the gothic tracery. Some of the gothic spires repaired and some possible replaced. The spires with multiple areas of damage and with old, inactive worming. The stained octagonal base possibly associated.
