The canvas is reinforced on the reverse with a glue lining. The paint is stable on the support and the varnish clear. A fine craquelure is visible in natural light. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered strokes of retouching, particularly to the clouds and sky. Comparatively fewer strokes of retouching fluoresce in the foreground, structures and landscape, the most notable of which is a passage of strengthening in the water around the boat at lower left. The painting presents well and can be displayed in its current state.
