This relined canvas retains a good tension on its stretcher and is in stable condition, with the textured brushstrokes of the artist still highly appreciable. There is a small paint loss to one of the clouds. Inspection in natural light reveal some small flecks of retouching visible. Ultra-violet fluorescence examination confirms these and some other passages of restoration. There are some repaired tears to the canvas, including a tear to the upper left corner, a larger 7 inch horizontal tear to the centre top and another across the neckline of God the father. There are retouchings to the borders, possible as a result of frame damage. The giltwood frame is in very good condition.
