The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is reinforced on the reverse with a glue lining. The varnish is minimally yellowed and there is scuffing due to frame abrasion along the left, right and lower edges. Two small vertical lines of loss are visible in the lower right edge, about 1.5 centimenters long each. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals further passages of scattered restoration, predominantly in the dark background, the figure's cloak and the still life elements on the table in the foreground. The painting presents well and should be hung in its current state.
