The central panel is approximately 1 inch thick and is not reinforced on the reverse. The wings are approximately 1⁄2 inch thick, corresponding to the thickness of the central panel without the molding.
Central panel:
There is damage to the upper pinacle and losses to the gold here and there. The varnish is clear and the paint is stable on the support. Under natural light, a fine craquelure is visible on the faces. The blue of the Virgin's robe has lost some of its glazes and there appears to be some restoration to the face of the saint at upper left.Under Ultraviolet light, retouching is visible at the top of the panel, with a few touches on Christ's forehead, and some of the saint's faces.
Left wing:
There is a 41⁄4 inch strip of wood affixed to the top of the panel. Under natural light, a fine craquelure is visible to the faces and some of the garments. Discolored retouching is visible on Gabriel's robe. Under ultraviolet light, retouching on the standing Magus at left fluoresces as well as on the shoulder of the second standing Magus. The gold between Gabriel's wing and robe fluoresces, and his wings appear to have been reworked.
Right wing:
Under natural light, a fine craquelure is visible on Christ and other figure's faces. Mary's blue robe has lost some of its glazes. The Magdalene's robe has retouching here and there. There are losses to the gold here and there, and a12 inch strip of wood is affixed to the edge to assist with closing the triptych. Ultraviolet light reveals retouching to the background in places.
