The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting presents very well and the image reads clearly. The canvas has a modern relining and is firmly stretched. The paint surface is stable and clean beneath a fresh varnish; it appears to have slightly pressed in the relining process and there is some aligatoring in the darks of the background, though these areas are secure and not distracting to the eye.
Inspection under UV is impeded by the varnish but reveals areas of strengtheningand retouching scattered throughout the sky, ground and vegetation in the background. There is finely applied retouching to pin prick losses and fine cracks in the figure's arms, forehead, eyes and nose,, further retouching feathered through her cheek and in the nose of the left-most seraph.
The painting requires no further intervention and is ready to hang. Offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame.
