The canvas has been relined and is providing a stable support for the picture. The varnish has discoloured and there is a pattern of craquelure to the paint surface. There are some scattered, discoloured old retouchings visible in natural light, and surface is abraded and lacking definition in some areas, for example in the drapery and some of the trees. The examination under UV light is impeded by the masking varnish.
