The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The stones may be largely 19th century and, if so, then this would indicate the entire sword is 19th century. The large majority of the stones are original (not paste) and very few appear to be replaced. But it is likely some probably are. It has been noted by the Christie’s Jewelry Department that, while the combined diamond weight is significant, it is impossible to measure to give a precise carat weight.
