Portrait of Willem Lodewijk, Count of Nassau-Dillenburg (1560-1620) in armor, bust-length Studio of Michiel van Mierevelt (Delft 1567-1641)估價: USD 7,000 - 10,000
The varnish is cloudy, yellowed and has gone matte in places and the paint stable on the support. A fine craquelure is visible in natural light. The panel is composed of three vertically oriented boards, is uncradled and exhibits beveling along the top and bottom edges. In natural light, a number of small losses are visible, generally restricted to the background. Under ultraviolet light, the aged varnish fluoresces green, preventing further inspection of the work. In general, the painting appears to be in a very good state of preservation and should respond well to a cleaning and filling of the small scattered losses.
