This relined canvas is held under adequate tension on its stretcher and remains stable. The paint layer is covered in a thick and discoloured varnish. Minor paint losses are visible along the paint edges, associated with frame wear, along with further losses in the figure’s hair and headscarf. Ultraviolet examination confirms the above, however is largely impaired due to the varnish. The artist’s painterly brushwork remains highly appreciable.
