The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- trimmed to or fractionally inside the subject.
- the sheet backed, and tipped down to a modern support sheet, with some associated creases at the corners.
- a paper loss at the upper left corner and sheet edge, skilfully made up with pen, ink and wash.
- a small paper loss at the upper right corner.
- a circa 20 mm. repaired tear at centre left sheet edge, another at upper centre.
- a few other minor defects and repairs at the sheet edges.
