The present impression shows the same, very pronounced wiping marks as the Cumberland impression (inv. no. H,6.2) in the British Museum, London.
The engraving is related to a drawing by Giulio Romano in the Royal Collection, Windsor (inv. no. 990308), which however only shows the right half of the subject. The drawing is a study for a lost panel painted by Giulio's workshop for the Camerino dei Cesari in the Palazzo Ducale, Mantua.
