JACOB MATHAM (1571-1631) AFTER MICHELANGELO BUONARROTI (1475-1564)
Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses is part of the tomb of Pope Julius II at the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. Pope Julius II (1443-1513), born Giuliano della Rovere and famously portrayed by Raphael, commissioned Michelangelo with the sculptural programme for his tomb in 1505. It was completed in 1545.

In addition to the catalogue description: - trimmed on the platemark on all sides, with inky plate edges at upper left. - this variant of a medium-size Fleur-de-Lys watermark not in Briquet, Haewood or Laurentius. - two small, partially scratched-out numbers in blue crayon at the lower left and right sheet edges. - a small rust spot with associated tiny hole at the right sheet edge. - a few pinpoint foxmarks in places. - with the usual horizontal central fold, flattened and mostly visible verso. - remains of old paper hinges at the right sheet corners. Otherwise as described and in good condition.
