The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- a small area of brown surface dirt below the wings of the lower angel at right.
- pale brown staining just below the boat.
- some other pale stains recto and verso.
- a small plugged hole in the branches of the nest carried at left.
- another small hole and tiny losses at the upper right corner, thinly supported.
- a short paper split at the upper left corner (approx. 10 mm.), thinly supported.
- a few other tiny holes and short splits at the upper sheet edge at centre, skilfully supported.
- several vertical folds and minor creasing throughout, mostly visible in raking light.
