The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The silk has been conserved by Janie Lightfoot Textiles Conservation, London.
The treatment comprised of:
- The work was released from the board and the paper residue on the front was removed; this was done mechanically.
- The silk was strip-lined with cream cotton, adhered in place with Beva Film 371 tape, heat activated.
- A mount was made out of conservation materials, acid free mount card and Creation Baumann fabric. The work stitched in place using polyester thread, Gutermann ‘Sew All’ col. 186.
- A window mount made of conservation grade card was supplied to position over the edges.
Condition:
- with wide margins.
- the silk sheet mounted onto a conservation-grade fabric board.
- a few frayed fibres in places: some short ones at upper centre and one above Christ's head, a few others at the edges of the plate.
- some thinner, vertical, frayed fibres at the lower part of the subject (the longest, approx. 90 mm.)
- a few minor scuffs in the subject.
- a circular skilfully repaired tear in the upper left margin.
- some remains of glue and tiny remains of paper fibres in the margins and the plate edges in places and some associated adhesive stains from where previously mounted, some frayed areas in the margins.
- a tiny rustspot in the lower left margin.
Otherwise as described and in good condition.
