The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to the catalogue description:
- the watermark relates to the Nivelle paper mill a Troyes (circa 1540s) and it is consistent with the dating of this print.
- with thread margins, trimmed just inside the borderline at upper left.
- a tiny paper loss at the tip of the lower left corner and some other short nicks at the lower leftsheet edge, backed.
- a small section (circa 1 x 4 mm.) near the upper left corner, torn and re-attached, with an associated vertical tear (circa 15 mm.).
- a circa 10 mm. backed tear at the left sheet edge.
- a short repaired tear at the upper sheet edge (circa 30 mm.)
- a vertical, flattened central fold, partially split and repaired at the lower edge (20 mm.).
- some very pale time staining and pale scattered foxing, mainly at the upper sheet edge.
- a small spot of surface dirt at the lower left sheet edge, near the address.
- remains of old adhesive tape along the upper sheet edge verso.
Otherwise as described and generally in good condition.
