The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Executed on wove paper, unmounted. The paper is in overall good condition and the media remain clear and strong. There has been some discolouration to the sheet. Surface dirt and some spots of foxing and staining are visible. The edges of the sheet show some wear, especially visible at the central hinge and the corners. There are two horizontal tears of circa 10 cm extending in from the left and right-hand edges, the right-hand tear also extends down vertically for circa 4 cm. There are two vertical tears that extend down circa 5 cm to either side of the central hinge. There are two other small vertical tears one to the upper edge and one to the lower edge, as well as some small nicks to and paper losses to the edge of the sheet. In the bottom right-hand corner a later inscription has been erased, with a resulting smudge on the paper and some smudging to the interior framing line. The additional support attached to the verso down the central fold has some losses and a tear to the lower half. Pin-holes in this support imply that the drawing was previously sewn into an album. A small rectangular piece of paper has been stuck to the verso of the lower centre-left edge, possibly a previous attempt to stabilise a tear to the main sheet.
