The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is supported on the reverse with a glue lining and it is secure on its stretcher. The paint layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has yellowed with age. There is an area of pigment lifting at the upper left corner. An uneven craquelure is visible across the surface. Inspection under ultraviolight light reveals scattered short strokes of retouching to address craquelure and lines of strengthening. The work should be hung in its present state. The painting is offered in a gilt wood frame.
