The work is composed of two vertically oriented wood panels of approximately equal size in an engaged frame. The pigment layer is stable under a clear varnish that has yellowed slightly with age. There is overall scattered pigment loss and thinning to the paint layer. Under natural light, overall retouching and lines of strengthening are visible. Inspection under ultraviolet light is largely hindered by an opaque varnish. The work would benefit from a sensitive conservation treatment. The painting is offered in an engaged wood frame.
