In natural light, restoration to address earlier frame abrasion and disturbances along the stretcher bar are visible. There are scattered areas of retouching throughout, including to the background and to a hair curl above her proper right shoulder. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned areas of retouching. An uneven varnish impedes further inspection. The painting's appearance would likely be enhanced by removing and refreshing the discolored varnish, although the work can hang in its present state.
