The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The work is executed on canvas that has been supported on the reverse by a glue lining. There is cusping along the upper and lower edges. The paint layer is stable, but dirty, under a clouded and slightly yellowed varnish. There are some losses along the craquelure, and to lifing areas of paint, which have since been stabilized by the varnish. Some of these losses are not repaired, as seen in the catalogue images. Inspection under ultraviolet light was hindered by an opaque vranish. The painting is offered unframed.
