The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The work is composed on a uniformly thin sheet of copper. The sheet is slightly uneven and pierced at the upper center edge. The paint layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has slightly yellowed with age. There is a short abrasion and associated pigment loss to his apron at lower left. Under natural light, scattered retouching, primarily to the dark background, is visible. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned restorations, but an opaque varnish impedes further inpsection. The work shoud be hung in its present state. The painting is offered with a simple black painted frame.
