The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The panel appears to be comprised of a single, vertically oriented board, approximately 1/4 inch thick with beveling on all four edges. The panel is uncradled and essentially in plane, with a slight bow at the lower right corner. The paint is stable on the support. Under natural light, the varnish is slightly cloudy, with some scuffing or blossoming of the varnish visible at the extreme edges due to frame contact. A fine, vertically oriented craquelure is faintly visible in places. Under ultraviolet light, scattered retouches fluoresce at upper left, on some of the plums, and on the ground along the lower 3 inches of the painting. The painting may be displayed as is, but would likely benefit from a refreshing of the varnish. The painting is offered in a Dutch style frame.
