The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting is composed on two horizontally oriented wood panels. The upper panel measures approximately 7.25 inches high and the lower panel measures approximately 8.4 inches high. There is a hairline crack following the grain of the wood at the upper left edge, extending approximately 2 inches. The paint layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has yellowed with age. The paint layer has thinned, most notably in the sky. Under natural light, a restored crack in the upper right quadrant is visible. There are scattered retouchings, including to an area of the sky right above the horizon line and around the figure at left carrying a basket. The work should be hung in its present state, and is offered unframed.
