The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting is executed on a panel comprised of two horizontal boards with evidence of bevelling along the right, left, and lower edges. The panel join is supported on the reverse by a series of short horizontal batons, this same method is used to support a crack in the panel at lower left measuring approximately 6 inches. The paint layer is stable under a clear varnish. In raking light resortations to the panel join and crack are visible. Further restorations to Venus's chariot, along the wood grain and addressing thinned areas of paint in the sky are also visible. The aforementioned restorations are also visible in ultraviolet light. The painting presents well and can be hung as is. The work is offered in a wood frame with a gilt sightline.
