There is an overall network of fine craquelure and with some disturbances, including one that extends from the sculpture in the background to the top of the mother's head. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms scattered areas of retouching, but inspection is largely impeded by an opaque varnish. The work should be hung in its present state. The painting is offered in a wooden Dutch style frame.
