Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The single-piece panel is structurally stable. There is some discoloured retouching to the flesh tones which are visible to the naked eye. There is evidence of infilling to historic losses in the background, upper right, and some minor rubbing along the right edge of the panel, associated to frame abrasion. The thick old varnish layers prevent a thorough reading under ultra violet light but the aforementioned retouching is confirmed. There are some losses to the gilding of the frame.
