The bronze with a brown patina. Rubbing and wear to the patina, particularly to the back of the figure, his left side and his proper right knee. Surface dirt to the crevices and inkwell interior. His proper left arm with an approximate ¹⁄₄-inch abrasion. The base with an approximate ¹⁄₂ x ¹⁄₄ inch square plug with visible infill to the underside, possibly missing another fitment and restored. A plug to his proper left hip, likely original to the making. A thin approximate ³⁄₄-inch portion of the edge of the base with original casting flaw or possible old repair. The basin likely originally fitted with a lid, now lacking.
