The copper panel is not reinforced on the reverse. The paint is stable on the support. Under natural light, the varnish is clear, though the painting appears to be a bit dirty. Ultraviolet light does not easily penetrate the old varnish, though some retouching might be visible above the skull. The painting would likely respond well to a cleaning and new varnish, but could be displayed as is.
