The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas has an old glue lining and is quite stiffly stretched. There is some flaking in the upper right quadrant and here and there in the background, as visible in the catalogue image. The paint surface is clean and under a clear varnish. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals small losses around the flaking which have been retouched but not filled. These retouches are also visible to the unassisted eye. There are a few further unfilled retouched losses to the dark background scattered throughout. UV light also reveals strengthening to the darkest areas of the glassware.
The painting presents well. It is offered in a carved giltwood frame.
