A nautilus cup, a flute, a façon-de-Venise and a wine and beer glass with nuts on a silver charger, a peeled lemon and fruit in a Kraak porcelain bowl on a partially draped stone tableJOHANN GEORG HINZ (HAMBURG C. 1630-1688)估价: USD 15,000 - 20,000
The canvas has an old glue lining and is quite stiffly stretched. There is some flaking in the upper right quadrant and here and there in the background, as visible in the catalogue image. The paint surface is clean and under a clear varnish. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals small losses around the flaking which have been retouched but not filled. These retouches are also visible to the unassisted eye. There are a few further unfilled retouched losses to the dark background scattered throughout. UV light also reveals strengthening to the darkest areas of the glassware. The painting presents well. It is offered in a carved giltwood frame.
