Bundesliga star and Captain of the Canada men's national soccer team, Alphonso Davies is regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world. He scored Canada's first ever goal at a men's World Cup in 2022 and has remained the face of Les Rouges. In the FIFA World Cup 2026, Davies captained the co-host team to a round of 16 finish, a historic best for the men's program. Though Davies was sidelined by an injury, under his captainship the squad secured their first ever World Cup victory (6-0 vs. Qatar), followed by a round of 32 victory (1-0 vs South Africa). Shakira has been an important supporter of Global Citizen since her first performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg in 2017. Since that performance Shakira has participated in numerous other concerts, including headlining the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, New York in 2025, and supporting the Global Citizen Rewards program and advocating for expanded access to education worldwide.
