Shakira has been an important supporter of Global Citizen since her first performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg in 2017. Since that performance Shakira has participated in numerous other concerts, including headlining the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, New York in 2025, and supporting the Global Citizen Rewards program and advocating for expanded access to education worldwide.

"Dai Dai", in collaboration with Burna Boy, is Shakira's third official FIFA World Cup song following "Waka Waka" in 2010 and "La La La" in 2014. The refrain is based around the exclamation "Let's Go!" in Italian, Japanese, Spanish, French, and English, while towards the end of the song she lists soccer legends including Ronaldo, Beckham, Kaká, and Mbappé. After its release in May, "Dai Dai" became the first official World Cup song to peak at number 1 on the Billboard Global Excluding US chart and number 1 on the Billboard Global 200. In addition to performing the song at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Topps Final Halftime Show, Shakira also performed it at the opening ceremony in Mexico City at the Estadio Azteca. In the official music video, Shakira can be seen performing in the costume offered here, which is an interpretation of a Colombian National Team jersey, Shakira's home country. Shakira has stated that 100 percent of her proceeds from the song will be donated to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
