This work will be included in a forthcoming volume of Edward Ruscha: Catalogue Raisonné of the Works on Paper.

Known for his Pop interpretations of classic American culture, this work is aptly titled "A M " with Ruscha pulling in the iconic image of American productivity, the crowing rooster at the crack of dawn. Stated the artist in 1989, "that's another mythical American concept, the idea of waking up early in the morning. That was a powerful silhouette."
