Lot Essay

This work belongs to a series produced in "St. Paul" in 1971. Today we already know a dozen of these works most likely produced in St Paul de Vence where T'ang had a friend.

St Paul is a French medieval village located in the Maritim Alps Department. During the 1960’s, T'ang had spent time in the south near St Paul, in Cannes and La Napoule. But the landscape of the hills of St. Paul "rolling down to the sea" offered a perfect setting for contemplation.

Another work of this series, also dated 1971 by T'ang on the back of the paper, was probably painted the same day.
