George Washington, 1781 & 1787
[WASHINGTON, George.] A lock of hair, consisting of approximately 30 strands, formerly housed in a folded sheet of laid paper bearing the text: "[W]ashingtons hair — 1781. & 1787" [With:] manuscript note to Thomas McKean in an unknown hand, n.p. "Saturday Evening," being an invitation to dine with George Washington: "The Gentlemen of General Washington's family present their Compliments to Mr. McKean and will do themselves the honor of dining with him on Friday next." [Also with:] an engraving of George Washington's bookplate and a wax seal bearing his signet mark. Provenance: by descent fraom the famly of of Thomas McKean and Augustine Washington. Together, four pieces.
