Lot Essay

A lover of baseball since childhood, after his first retirement from the NBA in 1994, Jordan began his pursuit of a career in the major leagues, playing minor league ball with the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox Double A affiliate team. While his attempt ended in the minors, his stint in baseball produced a number of successes, including attendance records at many of the baseball stadiums he visited nationwide.

Jordan played on at least one occasion in customized Air Jordan 10 baseball cleats, featured in an all-black premium leather upper with white accents and a red Jumpman logo embroidered on each heel. The Jordan 10 Cleat is extremely rare, with very few pairs produced as Jordan made his return to basketball before Nike put this model into wider production.

This pair was sourced from a former Nike employee in the mid-1990s.
