Muller visited Rhodes on his way to Egypt through Athens in 1838. He returned to England in March 1839. In 1843 he went East again as part of the Lycian Expedition.

The sheet is fully laid down onto a non-acidic board, and taped into a non-acidic mount. There are a two small scuffs in the sky (upper centre and upper right corner), and some slight scattered surface dirt. There has been some slight fading to the more delicate pigments, but the sheet is in good overall condition, reads well, and could be hung without further attention
