Lot Essay

Paddington Bear arrived in London after stowing away on a ship's lifeboat that began its journey in Darkest Peru. Paddington is just one of many unique species that can be found in Peru, which is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. To put it into perspective, you can find 10% of the world’s plant and fish species there!
The jungles of Paddington's native country are full of colourful birds as well as rich flora and fauna fed by the enormous Amazon River. This bear has been specifically created by Peru to celebrate the history, nature, art and cuisine of Paddington's birthplace.
Peru hopes that this vibrant Paddington will inspire all the adventurous people who see it to explore the world's many natural treasures, especially those that can be found in Peru (like Paddington).
