Lot Essay

Darcey Bussell is the widely acclaimed, great British ballerina. She's also a household name across the UK as the glamorous judge of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Having trained at the Royal Ballet School, and then danced for her entire career at The Royal Ballet, Darcey is more than qualified to represent London's historically rich arts scene.
The theatrical setting next to the Royal Opera House and the street performers of Covent Garden is ideal for Darcey's Rainbow Paddington. Like many of the Paddington Trail designers, Darcey grew up reading stories about a bear who was constantly on the move, "It was my love of colour that inspired my stripy design. I hope it represents the multitude of colourful circumstances in which Paddington always seems to end up."
