Lot Essay

Although Paddington might not have the same singing talent as Frankie Bridge from the all-girl pop group, The Saturdays, they do share a love of sparkles and glamour. The Strictly Come Dancing star and the intrepid Peruvian bear are both famous for being snappy dressers.
It’s therefore very fitting to have Frankie’s colourful design for The Paddington Trail located in one of the trendiest areas of London: Mayfair. Paddington is a curious kind of bear, though, and would probably want to know, “If Frankie is fashionable mostly when she’s in The Saturdays, what does she look like during the rest of the week?”
Frankie had no difficulty in finding inspiration when designing this bear. She said, “I’m so pleased to have been asked to create a statue for The Paddington Trail. As a new mum, I know how important the work of the NSPCC is and I can’t wait to read Paddington to my son. I was inspired to add a bit of glitter and glamour, as all little bears love to dress up.”
